CFA stands for Chartered Financial Analyst, a postgraduate professional certification offered to investment and financial professionals across the world by the America-based CFA Institute, which includes the Association for Investment Management and Research(AIMR).

CFA Exam Curriculum

The Chartered Financial Analyst(CFA) syllabus topics and exam weightage for each level are listed below :

CFA Exam Eligibility Criteria in India – To earn the CFA Credential

You must complete 3 Levels, according to the CFA Institute. 

Have a bachelor's degree or any other equivalent degree from a recognized institution or university or you should be in the final your of your graduation at the time of registration.

  • Final Year Students - Your selected exam window must be 11 months or fewer before your graduation month for your bachelor’s degree or equivalent program. It's mandatory that you complete your degree program prior to the date of sitting for your Level II exam. 

  • Professional Work Experience – You should have work experience in the field of finance and investments of 4000 hours or more and/or higher education that was acquired over a minimum of three sequential years and achieved by the date of registering for the Level I exam.

CFA Exam Pattern & Passing Criteria

CFA Exam has mainly 3 exam levels :

LEVEL-1 :

Level-1 includes a total of 180 MCQ-type questions which have mainly two sessions  i.e, Morning Session 90 MCQs and Afternoon Session 90 MCQs, in which only Level-1 has no negative marking in it, with the duration of 2:15min in each session and passing score of CFA Level-1 is 70%. 

LEVEL-2 :

Level-2 includes a total of 120 MCQ-type questions which have mainly two sessions i.e, morning session 90 MCQs, and the afternoon session 60 MCQ's, with the duration of 2:15min in each session and passing score of CFA Level-2 is 70%. 

LEVEL-3 :

Level-3 has both essay writing as well as MCQs in it. Morning session includes constructed response questions and the afternoon session includes 45 MCQs in which the duration of 2:15min in each session and passing score of Level-3 is 50%-70%.

Click on the link of ‘Admission Ticket’ to check the test centers of CFA

Choose the level of the CFA exam from the given options.

Enter the registered E-Mail ID and password of the candidate and click on login.

The admission ticket of the respective level for CFA exam will appear.

Take out the print of the admission ticket to carry at the test center of CFA

NOTE : Follow the same procedure for all 3 levels.

Fees of CFA  Course in India

Level-1 :

  • A one-time enrolment fee of USD 450 is paid when you register for the Level I examination. This won't be required for the subsequent exam attempts. 

  • The registration fees would be charged according to the time of registration. The Early Registration Fee is USD 700 and the Standard Registration Fee is USD 1000. 

Level-2 :

  • The registration fees would be charged according to the time of registration. The Early Registration Fee is USD 700 and the Standard Registration Fee is USD 1000. 

Level-3 :

  • The registration fees would be charged according to the time of registration. The Early Registration Fee is USD 700 and the Standard Registration Fees is USD 1000.
